Hello, Welcome back to a new year in PE class at the MET,
My name is Danixa Orrego Oyanedel, from Chile, I am a mom, a wife and I am a teacher since more than 10 years. I will be with our Kinder, 1st and 2nd grade levels.
I am very excited to initiate our Physical Educational class, many new activities, games and  experience learning through the fun and discovery.

Our goal, as a PE teacher is to provide the skills and opportunities for your child to embrace health and physical activities for life.

 The Parent’s Role

To help your child be successful this year, please follow our simple guidelines:

Gym Shoes
Your child will need gym shoes (sneakers, tennis shoes) to participate in activities.  They must have a flat bottom (no heel) and the foot must be fully covered.  Sandals, Crocs, clogs, dress shoes, boots and any heeled shoes are not appropriate for class.

Doctor’s Notes
If your child needs to be excused from PE class, please provide a doctor’s note explaining
.  why your child can not participate
.  a date when the child will be able to rejoin participation in class

If you have questions or information that might help me better work with your child please contact me. I encourage you to have the best communication between teacher-parent to provide the best PE experience. My email: dorrego@themetropolitanschool.com

Swimming levels

Swimming levels now are easy to follow for our kinder and 1st grade students.

Students will recognize their swimming level and then keep working to get the next level of achievement.

Kinder and 1st grade levels

Level blue is the first level, 2nd level is yellow, 3rd level is red and 4th level is green. Students will be placed at a level according to their skills and regardless of their grade. Within a grade we could find children with varied skills, therefore, the student may be placed at a different level than their peers. The class will be, however, conducted per grade level. We will focus on each child individually, to train and motivate them until they can reach their next level. At the end of the trimester, we will re-evaluate the students and assess the level achieved.

2nd grade swimming program

Students will be placed at a level according to their skills and regardless of their grade. Within a grade we could find children with varied skills, therefore, the student may be placed at a different level than their peers. The class will be, however, conducted per grade level. Welcome Back!!! PE kinder-1st grade - 2nd grade

WELCOME BACK!!

Kinder - 1st grades- 2nd grades

During first days our PE students reviewed our PE expectations:

"Students are required to dress appropriately for physical activity on P.E. days. Students are expected to come to P.E. class dressed in athletic shoes, and MET PE clothes, because are comfortable to move around. For safety reasons, do not use sandals, flip flops, high healed shoes or boots during P.E. class time. Water bottle and a hat (with their name on) will help to take care their health"

At the beginning of first trimester we will develop our fundamental movement skills:

Being proficient in fundamental movement skills enables children to participate confidently in play, dance, games, sports, outdoor education  and recreational activities at home, at school and in the community.
